Fit and Function

I have skinny, long, low volume feet. Sometimes finding slide style sandals is a challenge, especially when the upper is made from a semi-rigid fixed material.

The Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoe are exactly what my unicorn feet have been needing. Comfortable slide sandals with a fully adjustable upper.

These shoes are on the slightly oversized (aka “generous”) side and Roll Recovery advises that wearers size down. I wear a women’s size 9 in running shoes and size 8.5 in most other casual shoes. I ordered a women’s size 8. The length of the shoe is perfect.

The upper is where the fit is dialed in. The upper, made from suede, has two layers of hook-and-loop closure straps. High arches? No problem. Low volume feet? Also no problem? All with the same shoe!

Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoe

These are literally the first slide style recovery sandals that have managed to fit my narrow, low volume feet perfectly. Hooray!

I’ve been wearing the Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoe for the past month. I’ll generally wear them around the house. I have hardwood floors, and unfortunately, my torn plantar plate and hard surfaces don’t play well together. To avoid foot pain, I have to wear shoes.

I’ve typically been wearing the Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoe around my house, either with or without socks. I’ve also worn the shoes while running errands. Or my favorite use: wearing them to and from the trailhead. I love that with slides, I can wear my run or bike socks, put on the slides, and swap shoes out at the trailhead without messing with my socks.

The SUPERPLUSH™ Foam is supportive without feeling too squishy or unstable. I’ve walked across my lawn in these shoes on my way to the mailbox and my footing felt good. These have enough support to keep my finnicky feet feeling good on my hardwood floors.

As a bonus, the SUPERPLUSH™ Foam is made from a sustainable material (BLOOM© Technology: Algae + EVA).

I’ve worn the Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoes to trailheads several times. I also took them with me for a weekend of vanlife camping + mountain biking in Moab. The soles of the shoe have a light traction constructed as part of the shoe lower, enough to keep from skidding. The upper does collect a bit of dirt, which is typical of suede. The dirt brushes off easily (or comes off if you clap the soles of the shoes together). I would not recommend getting the shoes wet due to the suede upper.

Closing Thoughts

The Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoes are nicer than typical recovery sandals, thanks to the adjustable suede upper.  These shoes are comfortable, thanks to the SUPERPLUSH™ Foam and fully adjustable for a wide range of foot sizes, thanks to the dual strap closure system.

The Roll Recovery Solace Slide Shoes are available for both men and women, in whole sizes and in three colorways (safari, midnight, and graphite). Women's sizes range from 6 to 11 (whole sizes).  Men's sizes range from 9 to 13 (whole sizes).
