Fit and Function

The sizing for the Dakine Women's Syncline Gel Glove is based on hand diameter and are designed with a narrower fit in mind.  According to the size guide, I am a women's medium. The fit around the circumference of my hand and around my fingers is nice.  It's form fitting but still easy to move.  I do wish that the gloves were a little longer (fingertip to wrist), as I found the silicone pad that's closest to my wrist to fall a bit short, hitting me about an inch above where it's intended to hit.  Because of this, I would probably order a size bigger next time.

The fit didn't detract from the comfort and function, but I do prefer a glove with a little more coverage towards my wrist.

I generally prefer padded full finger gloves when riding my gravel bike and mountain bike. The 2 mm thick pads on the Dakine Women's Syncline Gel Glove are very comfortable, offering plenty of vibration protection.

The gloves have an adjustable hook-and-loop closure that, honestly, I needed to have open to put the gloves on, due to how form fitting my size mediums were. I like how the closure is at the top of the wrist, versus the bottom, and the closure stayed secure during my testing of the gloves.

The Dakine Women's Syncline Gel Glove passed the touchscreen test with great success.  I was able to use my phone without taking my gloves off, something that I'm rarely able to do when wearing full cycling gloves.

The fabric weight of the Dakine Women's Syncline Gel Glove is also in that "just right" spot.  During my testing, my hands never felt too hot, even during late afternoon August rides.  The fabric and inner seam construction is also spot-on, as I didn't have any issues with rubbing or discomfort.

I also really appreciated the Polygiene® Odor Control technology.  I usually cram my gloves in my pack or gear bag immediately after riding, and the result is a funky smelling glove.  True to form, I wrapped up my ride and crammed the Dakine gloves into my pack.  When I came back to get them a week later, they were funk free.  Hooray!

I wasn't able to test the durability of the fabric (bad for gear testing, but probably better for my overall health since this means I didn't crash when I was wearing them).  The fabric, over the course of several rides, including a full day at Trestle Bike Park, didn't show signs of wear.  I imagine they'll come out on top if you should crash and be very protective of your skin.

Closing Thoughts

The Dakine Women's Syncline Gel Glove are designed for smaller hands but have all of the features and functionality of their men's edition.  I did find the gloves to fit a bit short on me and would recommend sizing up.  Still, it's nice to have an option that's purpose built for women's hands.
